Water St. and Coenties Slip

During the time of painting the 3 canvases of 85 Broad St. for Goldman Sachs, I was amazed at how  a building could be put together during the midst of a city’s daily street life. I began to feel that not only the front, but the middle and well as the back of this beautiful building needed to be shown. And so I did by painting this canvas.

I am so happy that this painted record exists today. So much has changed within that area.  As technology altered the need for space within the financial district, Goldman Sachs moved from this building and the surrounding area changed. The financial district, as well as so many areas of big cities, will continue to adjust to its needs for space, but remain one of the most important parts of what constitutes a world ‘s need for what New York City offers.
