Plate

This is the only interior painting done by Hedy Pagremanski, whose depiction of this kitchen of close friends provides many clues to the domestic life of this family. The unusually large and well-equipped Upper east Side kitchen is full of professional catering equipment, giving a clue to the profession of the mother who is cooking in the center of the painting; the father is reading the sports section of New York Newsday, giving a clue to his profession, and interests and activities of the rest of the close-knit family are suggested by the objects surrounding them.
